Johnson County Cowgirls Bylaws

Johnson County Cowgirls, hereby joined together for the benefit and advancement of the Johnson County Cowgirls Rodeo and to promote sportsmanship and a spirit of competition among the members of the Johnson County Cowgirls and establish this as the By-Laws for the Johnson County Cowgirls organization.

ARTICLE I

1.01     NAME:

The name of this organization shall be Johnson County Cowgirls.

The organization may be conducted as Cowgirls, JC Cowgirls or JCC.

ARTICLE II

2.01     PURPOSE

The purpose of the JCC shall be to produce a Tuesday night rodeo (June through August) of seven to nine total to establish a sense of fair competition and good sportsmanship of the contestants in the Tuesday night rodeo.

ARTICLE III

3.01     MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be for female contestants of all ages and male contestants 16 years of age or younger as of January 1st of the current year.

Two types of memberships shall be available: Individual and Family.

Family Memberships shall be defined as “Parent/Guardian and children 18 and younger as of January 1, current year.”

3.02     DUES

Membership dues shall be paid to be eligible for year-end awards. All membership dues and fees will be put into a general fund to be used in the operation, promotion and general welfare of the JCC.  Points will not be counted until memberships have been paid.

3.03     VOTING

Individual Members sixteen years of age or older shall be eligible to vote on the rules and by-laws and other matters brought before the JCC that will require a vote. If member is under Sixteen years of age an adult representing them may cast a vote.

Family memberships shall be eligible to vote on the rules and, by-laws, and other matters brought before the JCC that will require a vote. A family membership is eligible for one vote.

The majority vote of members shall determine JCC Rules and Regulations and By-Laws.

ARTICLE IV

4.01     BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

The purpose and aim of the Board Members of the JCC is to uphold the by-laws and rules of the JCC and to bring before the membership any and all changes, amendments, additions, deletions or other matters pertaining to the rules and by-laws of the JCC. 

4.02     Number of Directors

There shall be five or seven (an odd number for voting purposes) members elected to the Board of Directors for the JCC. 

4.03     Powers

The Board shall serve as the voice of the organization and be responsible for planning and executing organization events. Organizational business shall me managed under the direction of the board, except as otherwise stated.

4.04     Terms

Board Members shall be elected for a three-year term whereas at the end the three-year term they shall be re-elected by the voting membership or new board members elected to serve the board of the JCC.

Terms shall be staggard with two (or three) members up for election each year.

4.05     Qualification and Election of Directors

Board members will be voted on and elected by the eligible voting membership. Any person elected to the Board shall be a current member of the JCC.

4.06     Meetings

All Board of Director meetings will be open to any and all members who wish to attend.

A financial statement and minutes shall be made available to members when requested.

The end of the year awards banquet shall serve as the annual membership meeting of the organization.

4.07     Board of Director Positions and Roles

The officers of the organization shall be a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, all of whom shall be chosen by the board of directors for the purpose of conducting official business as needed.

Board members shall be appointed by the board of directors to serve as event directors including, but not limited to Barrel Director, Track Director, Steer Director, Calf Director, Ground Events Director and Office Director.

Barrel and Track Directors shall measure and mark the barrels and poles with markers before the rodeo begins and be present or have representation for all barrel and track timed events to oversee and enforce the rules and be the person to bring any disputes from the contestants to the Board and if need be before the Membership.

Steer and Calf Directors shall be present or have representation at all the roping events  to oversee and enforce the rules of the roping events and be present or appoint one person to be the designated person on the barrel (barrier) to monitor the rule for all the roping events. They shall also be the person to bring any disputes from the contestants to the Board and if need be before the Membership.

Ground Events Director shall be present or have representation at all horseless events to oversee and enforce the rules. They shall also be the person to bring any disputes from the contestants to the Board and if need be before the Membership.

Office Director shall be present or have representation to oversee entries, results, points and other office responsibilities. They shall also be the person to bring any disputes from the contestants to the Board and if need be before the Membership.

ARTICLE V

5.01     Points

Points towards year end awards shall be kept for all competing contestants who are members.

Points may only be accumulated from the time the membership is purchased forward. 

Points shall be kept for all competing members, and they shall be regularly available on the website.

I do hereby certify that the above stated Bylaws of Johnson County Cowgirls were approved by the Johnson County Cowgirls membership on August 27, 2023 and constitute a complete copy of the Bylaws of the organization.
